Next NZSA Northland Meeting

AGM Sunday 21st March at 11.00 am in Kerikeri

Our guest speaker is Northlander Rachel Rowlands. Drawing on her extensive background in animation and web design, she will discuss Shopify and present a proposal for designing a website for Northland writers to market their books.

We will have a Book Sales Table so please bring copies of books you’d like to sell.

Karen Phillips will send directions for the venue and details about the sale of books with the agenda.

Please contact other members to make car-pooling arrangements

Note the meeting will be held on a Sunday, not the usual Saturday.

Pavlova Press

Just a reminder that the closing date for submissions to Pavlova Press’s anthology, including pavlova poems, images, cartoons and stories (fiction and nonfiction) that could become part of a pavlova-themed book has been extended until 31 March 2021.

The 2021 Page & Blackmore Short Story Competition is open for entries. This national short story competition is jointly sponsored by Nelson’s Page & Blackmore Booksellers and NZSA Top of the South Branch, with prizes awarded half as book vouchers and half as cash.

The word limit is 1500 words. Writers may submit as many entries to the competition as they like, provided an entry fee of $20 is paid for each story. All stories receive feedback, with the judge providing a written assessment of the ten short-listed stories. The top three entries receive prizes to the following value: First, $500; Second, $300; Third, $200.

The competition will be judged by Rajorshi Chakraborti, an Indian-born novelist, essayist and short story writer who now lives with his family in Wellington.

The closing date for entries is Friday 30 April. The results of the competition will be announced on Friday 4 June.
