NZSA member, Leena Taylor-Gillespie, has recently published her latest novel!
Doorway of Death
by Leena Taylor-Gillespie
“I’m a freakin’ awesome avenging granny!” I shrieked like a demented banshee into the raging wind, and relished the sound of wailing water as it rolled loose boulders away from its new path.

Meet Reyna Aundra Murray, middle-aged school teacher, as she does battle with forces of evil from other worlds. Curiosity and a serious dose of not minding her own business has led Reyna through a mysterious door to possibilities she could never have dreamt of. She discovers she is a gifted, and has abilities that could be described as magical or supernatural. What would her children and grandchildren think if they could see her on a mountain top hurling bolts of gift-woven energy at her enemies?
This is the first book in The Thousandth Way Chronicles by Leena Taylor-Gillespie
The eBook and paperback are available on Amazon and also in Kindle Unlimited https://www.amazon.com.au/Doorway-Death-Book-Thousandth-Chronicles-ebook/dp/B0D9T1SQ2T
CONGRATULATIONS:
We are proud to announce that NZSA Northland member, Janine Williams, has won the inaugural Lynley Dodd Children’s Writers Award!

NZSA Northland member, Janine Williams, (author name J L Williams) is the very first, delighted, and grateful recipient of the Lynley Dodd Children’s Writers Award.
Many of us, including Janine, remember reading Lynley Dodd’s Hairy Maclary books to our children repeatedly, enjoying the rhyme, rhythm and humour just as much as they did.
This award is made possible thanks to a huge act of generosity from Aotearoa New Zealand’s literary great, Dame Lynley Dodd DNZM, who has committed to backing this award for the future with a long-term gift.
The Lynley Dodd Children’s Writers Award is intended for authors who have established their identity in the field of children’s literature, showcasing richness, range and depth in their work. Eligible recipients should have published two or three books, whether they are picture books, junior novels or young adult novels, and should exemplify the strength and quality of children’s literature in Aotearoa New Zealand.
